In England it has become typical for young adults finishing their last year at secondary school to push the boat out with a traditionally American prom night. It is quite a new rite of passage in our country but has a history of some serious traditions.
The first step is asking someone special to go the venue with you. It is traditional for the boys to
approach the girls but it doesn’t make a difference so long as you have someone to go with. There are certain people who have the confidence to go ‘stag’ as the Americans say but it is expected to be accompanied by a date.The next thing to sort is the clothing especially if you’re female, the boys usually start with renting a tuxedo which can work out really well but getting one that doesn’t fit properly can ruin your night so when you go take your mom as she cares what you look like. It might not be the best idea to go shopping for your outfit with your friend as prom night can get quite competitive. Getting your date a corsage is another tradition just make sure it will complement your girls outfit, or there will be hell to pay. Girls if you want to ensure the perfect corsage just buy your own to save the disappointment, men!
